DIY: tawashi sponge

Tawashi, the ZERO waste sponge

A little history..

The Tawashi sponge comes from Japan and means “washing brush” or “mop”. The first form of Tawashi sponges appeared in 1907.

Handmade, it can be knitted or woven. It is made from recycled fabric such as a t-shirt, tights, socks.

We love this sponge at Ma Cabane à Rêves! Because in addition to ticking the “durable, economical, washable, zero waste” boxes, they are perfect to be used with our magnetic whiteboards !

So, we say NO to the microfiber sponge bought at the supermarket and we recycle our old socks! YES to the circular economy :)

Here we share with you the anti-waste upcycling tutorial by Elise Bautista Maillet @lesloversdeco for Milk magazine.

A great activity to do with your children!
